Holp - RotoTop ensures high economic value due to special quality and a very long lifetime

Investments have to pay off for each entrepreneur: Higher profitability and a better internal work flow are always the main aim of an investment. The RotoTop produced by Holp GmbH in Germany does not only initiate a considerable and proven increase in performance, but also offers a very quick amortization, an especial long product life and therefore a secure return on investment.

“It’s not a secret at all, that money is made at the front of an excavator - with the help of the attachments. This is where the “wrist” of an excavator plays a special role in making work on site much more profitable”, says managing director Günter Holp. For already 15 years Holp GmbH offers with the rotary drive RotoTop this profitable “wrist” of an excavator. Holp considers himself a pioneer of pure rotation on an excavator, who keeps on improving the rotary drive. Over a period of nine years the first seven sizes entered the market, after that four more models appeared within two years. Now there is a Holp rotary drive for each excavator with a working weight between 600 kg and 45 tons.

The RotoTop is gradually optimized, since 2015 there is the type RT.031 made with an aluminium housing, which 2017 has been followed by RT.091. In the year 2018 the RT.062 also appeared with a housing of high-quality aluminium. Sometimes people mistakenly think that this light construction may be weaker than a rotary drive with a steel housing – that is not the case, as both materials have the needed characteristics for this use – aluminium has even got a higher tensile strength than steel. When it comes to rotary drives for machines with a working weight of less than 10 tons, Holp changed deliberately to the more expensive aluminium, because within this weight class literally every gram in weight that can be saved at the front of an excavator counts.

Great performance at the attachment

Due to its flat, light construction the RotoTop ensures that all the power provided by the excavator reaches the attachment without any noticeable loss. Thus, all tasks on a standard building site can be fulfilled with it, because of the freedom in movement that is enabled by the rotary drive. This ability to move freely in a real spatial movement is reached by the RotoTop in combination with the kinematics of the excavator and can be compared to the possibilities of a human wrist. Like that a proven increase in performance of a minimum of 10 % even with the easiest tasks like the excavation of a pit is guaranteed. Most of the times increases up to 50 % can be reached without much effort: The excavator has to be moved much less and therefore not only the time of the employees, but also fuels are saved. There are more savings possible, because one excavator which is now much more flexible can fulfil all necessary tasks when working as the only machine on a site. Also, a lot of former manually done work can be now taken over by the excavator.

Because of its rotary joints with large diameters the RotoTop always brings the greatest oil quantity to the attachment, so that long and hard tasks with attachments needing much oil like milling machines, mulchers, etc. can be done without any thermic problems. Also, with the help of RotoTop money can be saved when purchasing attachments: As the rotary drive enables all attachments to turn endlessly with 360°, they don’t have to include a slewing gear, so one can buy a cost-effective alternative. The use of the RotoTop is easy and works intuitively, so that it also can be used in rental parks, where it creates savings also when used only now and then.

Intrinsic value convinces entrepreneurs

Because of the experience of 44 years in earth movement and 25 years in construction one says within the Holp company: “We have got the DNA of an excavator machinist and at the same time the way of thinking of an entrepreneur.” When building the RotoTop these both points of view left their traces: The machinist knows what daily work with pressure and deadlines is like and what exactly he needs to fulfil his tasks the best way. This is why – in spite of the necessarily flat and light construction – only a very robust housing and protected hoses are used to avoid damage and to guarantee lasting and reliable operation.

For an entrepreneur it is not only important to know if the machine is doing its job properly on site, but also, if the investment pays off very quickly. This requirement is met by the RotoTop because of the proven increase in performance and the savings, but also with its extreme high quality, which enables the Holp company to give 3 years in warranty since 2015.

And what’s more: Once the live of an excavator comes to an end, it must not be the end for the RotoTop. In most cases it can be refurbished for a second excavator life with only 20 % of the price of a new rotary drive. It’s obvious that the machine is amortizing very quickly this way. This intrinsic value, the long product life and the high residual value convince every entrepreneur, an investment with the rotary drive is sustainable in different ways: Apart from the mentioned economic aspects the responsible handling of resources is in our times more important than ever, which is met by a double use and long lifetime of the product.
