RotoTop makes work significantly easier
Murrhardt-Fornsbach, 04.06.2024
The company “Grashüpfer GalaBau” from Eggenstein in Germany relies on a compact excavator with rotary drive from Holp for its landscaping work.
Jan Bolz from Eggenstein near the German Karlsruhe had already had 10 years of experience in gardening and landscaping when he and his business partner Carsten Fischer decided to set up their own business in autumn 2023 after a long period of part-time self-employment. With the help of one employee the young entrepreneurs offer all services related to the creation and maintenance of gardens. In order to be able to successfully manage the growing number of customers from the private, public and commercial sectors in the future, they are currently looking for additional employees.
Jan Bolz has already found one good colleague, even if he is not made of flesh and blood, but mainly of metal: the EZ17 mini excavator from Wacker Neuson, which was purchased with a RotoTop, is an important support for the company. Years ago, Bolz had tried out the RotoTop at trade fairs and events and had also convinced his former boss to purchase it as he had noticed during the tests how flexible and quick work thanks to the endless rotation can be done. Above all, a lot of manual labour is eliminated, which makes it physically easier on the team and gives them more time for other tasks.
‘No more excavators without RotoTop’
‘With our small team, it is now very important for us to complete our tasks quickly and effectively, and the elimination of manual labour helps us a lot. All in all, the RotoTop makes our work much easier. We will always fit a RotoTop to every excavator we buy in future,’ says Bolz, who misses the rotary drive more often when he has to hire a bigger excavator for special tasks. Originally, Bolz wanted to purchase a tiltrotator, but realised during his research that this would be far too heavy for the small excavator. Now he can say from his own experience that the pure rotation is sufficient for almost all tasks on site and the performance of the compact excavator benefits from the low weight and low structure of the RotoTop.
Maximum flexibility in all directions
Being able to turn the bucket and work in all directions without having to move the whole excavator is a great relief and saves a lot of time and fuel. The excavator arm is now as flexible as possible at all times, which significantly speeds up processes and increases output and therefore yield. What's more, when landscaping, one often has to work within tight spaces and still take care of not damaging a wall or a fence, e.g., when backfilling near borders of all kinds. ‘The ability to work in all directions without limits is the most important thing for me, it changes the whole way I work with an excavator,’ says Bolz.
The excavator is mainly used for excavation and earthworks, moving material to the side, shaping embankments and also for precise placing of natural stone for small walls and borders. A grapple was purchased for this purpose, which could be bought without an own rotary motor, saving the young company even more money.
